Dr. Rui Providência is a Consultant Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital and a Professor of Cardiovascular Epidemiology and Evidence Synthesis at University College London. With over 300 published works, he has made significant contributions to the adoption of cryoballoon technology, contact-force sensing, and the direct oral anticoagulants for managing atrial fibrillation (AF). Dr. Providência’s current research focuses on the epidemiology of AF across Europe, delving into related genetic, proteomic, and radiomic aspects. Additionally, he serves on the Cochrane Library’s Editorial Board and has contributed with methodological and clinical expertise to the recent European Cardiac Arrhythmia Society Guidelines on Catheter Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation.
