Prof Karl-Heinz Kuck is currently the head of the Department of Cardiology at the Asklepios Klinik St. Georg in Hamburg, Germany. His main scientific interest since the 1980s has been clinical electrophysiology, eventually focusing on catheter ablation of various types of atrial, atrioventricular and ventricular tachyarrhythmia. He has been the Principal Investigator of a number of large randomized controlled trials, among them CASH, CAT, DINAMIT, VTACH and FIRE AND ICE. In recent years, Prof Kuck has also become actively involved in the field of catheter-based treatment of valvular heart diseases. His scientific interests are reflected (as of August 2018) in more than 700 papers he has authored or co-authored. Prof Kuck has served as a Board Member of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) and served as EHRA President.
