Diego Penela, MD

Diego Penela is a Senior Electrophysiologist of the Teknon Medical Center (Barcelona, Spain) since 2019. Dr. Penela graduated in 2007 at Medical School in Santiago de Compostela (Spain). He trained as EP in the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona from 2012 to 2015. In 2017 he received a PhD in Cardiovascular Disease at University of Barcelona (Spain). He has authored over 80 scientific papers, and is co-editor of several books, having a 21 H-index and more than 800 citations. His main areas of interest include the premature ventricular complex ablation in patients with left ventricular disfunction and the use of imaging for guiding EP procedures. He is currently serving on the editorial board of the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology (IF:8.5). Dr. Penela has also been a very active member of numerous scientific societies including the Scientific Initiatives Committee of the European Heart Rhythm Association. In 2015, Dr. Penela has been awarded with the Best in Young Research Award of the European Heart Rhythm Association.
