David Haines, MD

Dr. Haines is Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at Oakland University-William Beaumont School of Medicine, and the Director of the Heart Rhythm Center at Beaumont Health in Royal Oak, MI. Previously, Dr. Haines was Professor of Medicine at the University of Virginia. He is a Fellow of the Heart Rhythm Society.
Dr. Haines had focused his research career on understanding the biophysics and pathophysiology of catheter ablation lesion formation. He has been actively involved in the field of AF ablation experimentation since 1992, and was PI of the first multicenter pilot study of catheter ablation of AF in man (MECA Trial). Presently, Dr. Haines is focusing his efforts on increasing our understanding of pulsed field ablation, and developing tools to visualize catheter ablation lesions in real time.
Presently Dr. Haines is a Trustee for the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS), chair of the Cardiovascular Board Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Exam Committee of the American Board of Internal Medicine, and is a board member of the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission-EP.
