Boris Schmidt, MD

Dr. Schmidt is a cardiologist and electrophysiologist at the Cardioangiologisches Centrum Bethanien (CCB) in Frankfurt, Germany. He has been co-chairing the electrophysiology department with Prof. Dr. KR Julian Chun since 2010.
During his Cardiology training he spent several years in the working group of Karl-Heinz Kuck and Feifan Ouyang at St. Georg Hospital in Hamburg as well as at the University of Freiburg.
His primary interest focusses on new ablation technology primarily in the field of atrial fibrillation. During his career he conducted several FIH and as well as prospective randomized studies with single shot and balloon devices.
Another major academic field of interest is left atrial appendage closure for stroke prophylaxis. Dr. Schmidt serves as a member for several international multi-center trials in the LAAC space.
CCB is a training center for the European Heart Rhythm Association as well as for many new ablation technologies.
Dr. Schmidt is a board member of the Electrophysiology Working group (AGEP) of the German Cardiac Society to promote education and research activities for fellows in training.
